TIGA Scholarship Program
The Texas Independent Ginners Association established the scholarship fund in 2001 and since its inception we have given over $12,500 to deserving applicants. In 2010, TIGA awarded three $1,000 scholarships.
The scholarship is available to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a college degree with an agricultural major at a Texas school or a current college student that is currently pursuing an agricultural major and enrolled in a Texas school. The scholarship is made available to immediate family of customers of TIGA member gins, employees of TIGA member gins, immediate family of employees of TIGA member gins and immediate family of owners/managers of TIGA member gins. A gin is considered a TIGA member gin if the gin is current with its dues and declared in good standing by the association.
A new addition beginning in 2008, expanded the eligibility to include TIGA Associate members. The scholarship is made available to immediate family of employees of TIGA Associate members, employees and immediate family of owners/managers of the member business. A business is considered a TIGA Associate member if it is current with its dues and declared in good standing by the association.
